Comment

Château Brown, formerly Château Barrière, owes its name to a wealthy wine merchant of Scottish origin: John Lewis Brown. In 1884, Château Brown won its first gold medal at the Universal Exhibition in Amsterdam. Little by little, the Château lost its splendor as several families succeeded one another at its head. In 1994 Bernard Barthe (businessman in the cereal industry) became the owner of the castle which underwent a revival and significant investments in both the vines and the winery, then was sold in 2004 to the Mau and Dirkzwager families. Jean Christophe Mau propelled Château Brown into the big leagues in the 2000s, attracting critics from the international press.

Tasting

This Pessac-Léognan 2024 presents itself with a beautiful brilliant red color. The nose is expressive and charming, marked by aromas of red and black fruits: cherry, raspberry, blackberry. On the palate, the wine is round, supple and very pleasant. The tannins are fine, already well melted, which makes it easy to drink now. The fruitiness dominates throughout the tasting, with a nice freshness on the finish. An accessible, gourmet and convivial wine, perfect to accompany grilled meats, simple dishes or even as an aperitif with charcuterie platters
