Château Talbot is a prestigious wine estate located in Saint-Julien-Beychevelle, in the Médoc, in the heart of the Bordeaux vineyards. Its history dates back to the 15th century and its name is linked to John Talbot, Earl of Shrewsbury, a famous English military leader who died during the Battle of Castillon in 1453. Classified Fourth Grand Cru in the official classification of Bordeaux wines of 1855, Château Talbot has belonged to the Cordier family since 1918. The estate is distinguished by its vineyard of 110 hectares of single vines planted on gravel soils typical of the Médoc, this which makes it one of the largest properties in Saint-Julien, as well as its remarkable setting with its historic buildings surrounded by vineyards and gardens. Today, Château Talbot remains one of the emblematic estates of the Saint-Julien appellation and an essential reference among the great classified growths of the Médoc.
The color is deep and shiny. The nose is expressive, marked by aromas of ripe black fruits, blackcurrant and plum, accompanied by notes of cedar, tobacco and spices. On the palate, the wine is ample and structured, with fine tannins and a lovely freshness. The finish, long and persistent, reveals woody and spicy nuances which underline its elegance and its aging potential.
